We love, love, love burgers & fries at my house! Kale chips have turned into a new snack full of crunchy, salty love. Here’s how we’ve altered the Burger, Fries, and Chips to make a fun and healthy fiesta of a dinner! Regarding the burger, using 96% fat free lean ground beef can still be delicious, but you've got to add seasoning to the meat before you cook it. That's how you get the flavorful burgers. This is a great spread for your Memorial Day weekend menu!

Serves: 4
Ingredients
  • Burgers:
  • 1 lb 96% fat free lean ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp dried onions
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 4 slices Jarlsberg Lite Cheese
  • 4 slices tomatoes
  • 4 slices red onions
  • 4 romaine lettuce leaves
  • 4 Oroweat 100% whole wheat sandwich thins
  • Kale Chips:
  • 1 bunch kale
  • Olive oil spray
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Baked French Fries:
  • 2 russet potatoes
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Olive oil spray
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. French Fries:
  2. Heat the oven to 425º Bake. Wash the potatoes and slice into French-fry slices.
  3. Line a cookie sheet with tinfoil (for easy clean-up). Evenly space the potato fries on the tray with no overlapping of potatoes.
  4. Spray the fries with the Misto olive oil sprayer and sprinkle with paprika, garlic powder, salt, & pepper. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
  5. Kale Chips:
  6. Next, line a baking tray with parchment paper (this is fabulous for easy clean-up!). Thoroughly wash the kale and dry in a salad spinner.
  7. With scissors, cut off the edges of the kale and cut the kale into bite-size pieces.
  8. Place the kale on the baking dish and spray with an olive oil Misto spray.
  9. Sprinkle with salt & pepper.
  10. Put it in the oven on the bottom rack for 10 minutes until kale is crispy. (You can cook the French fries on the top rack and the kale on the bottom rack).
  11. Bistro Burger:
  12. While the kale chips & French fries are cooking, mix the Worcestershire sauce, dried onion, salt, & pepper in with the beef in a bowl.
  13. Using 2 plates and wax paper lining each plate, make 4 even balls of meat and smash between the 2 plates so that you’ve made perfectly round burgers.
  14. Place in a Panini maker or George Foreman grill or directly on your grill outside and cook to your desired temp. Use the cheese, onions, lettuce, and tomato slices to flavor up that burger. I like toasting my buns in the toaster, too. Enjoy your burger, chips, and fries!!!
